Outward Bound is an educational innovation developed 80 years ago by Kurt Hahn, a celebrated and progressive German educator. Our mission: To form personality (s) The OUTWARD BOUND gGmbH is a non-profit organized educational institution as well as recognized sponsor of the "Freie Jugendhilfe" and annually implements with about 7,000 participants experiential seminars on personality development in nature. Outward Bound is an international educational movement dedicated to the idea that people are capable of far more than they know. In 2009, Omaha Outward Bound School was created to bring high quality experiential education programs to Nebraska. Outward Bound International is a membership organization of the worldwide Outward Bound community. Realising that the Aberdovey experience would benefit all young adults, Outward Bound’s mission quickly grew to include people from all backgrounds. This network consists of 36 Outward Bound schools on 6 continents around the world. The first Outward Bound School opened at Aberdovey in North Wales in 1941. The birth of today’s Outward Bound began humbly with the opening of Gordonstoun school in Scotland in the 1930’s with only two students. Our Mission is to change lives through challenge and discovery. Today in the United States, Outward Bound expeditions and programs bring our mission to life throughout the year, every day for roughly 35,000 students annually. Outward Bound entities collectively serve around a quarter of a million people a year in over 30 countries and have reached over seven million people in its 70-year history. We partner with schools, colleges, employers and youth groups to teach the most important lesson they could ever learn: to believe in themselves.
